368

368 large block of 20. For 367-369, there are stamp spacing varieties, 2 mm & 3 mm. Apparently when printing on a flat plate press, the paper had to be dampened in order for the ink to adhere well. The drying process resulted in shrinking, with the outer edges tending to shrink more than the inner edges. So the outer stamps were spaced at 3 mm and the inner at 2 mm to compensate. This also accounts for the "star" plate blocks--the stars were placed to let the perforators know that this sheet had varying spacing. This block clearly shows the 2mm and 3mm spacing.
