373Filstrupcover

373. Auction notes: "A. W. Filstrup was one of the most prolific users of imperf stamps in the early 20th Century. From what I can gather, he traveled all over the USA on behalf of The Covel Manufacturing Company and sent many letters back to the factory. A wealth of envelopes and nice individual imperf pieces exist today because of Filstrup. There are many covers sent from and to Benton Harbor, MI in the collecting community and the Benton Harbor address with an imperf stamp is prized by collectors. Without Filstrup, we wouldn't have the quantity of great used imperf material available today. This is a commerical use of #373 in 1922. Nice cover. ex Molesworth." (eBay 1/3/04)
